Part 2 of the Texas Trilogy

It began in Austin. It will end July in Dallas.

But right now it's Houston, bay-beee!

I'm old enough by now to have learned this basic life lesson: make a list before you pack. Otherwise, you end up making a list after you get there that looks like this:

Stuff I Forgot
  • silver high-heeled shoes (leaving me only with the black strappy Cruel Shoes)
  • a purse
  • my notebook
  • massage-y thing for when my back hurts
  • sign and entry forms for my Book Fair giveaway
  • assume three or four more things before the day is through
The whole shebang starts in about two hours with some afternoon workshops, then a mixer, then a party, then do the whole thing all over again for three more days, or until we collapse, whichever comes first.

I have always found that forgetting something is a good excuse to buy some more shoes, handbag, books etc etc. Love your blog. Jem

Never is a list more useful than when packing for a camping trip. There are some things you just can't get in the woods.

Bark boxers chafe.

Thanks, Jem! Yes, I walked down to Macy's after it stopped monsooning outside and bought a new pair of shoes and a purse. There was a sale (isn't there always?) and the hotel gave me a coupon that I can use again and again for the next year. Love the shoes better than the ones I left behind, but there's always that New Shoe issue when dancing. Must pace oneself.

Rob, when we went camping year before last, we spent most of our first night running back and forth to the camp store for things we forgot. Luckily it was the end of the season and everything was on clearance. So glad we weren't backwoodsing it.
