Animal husbandry question

Anyone know how to get peanut butter out of a cat's fur? Without getting the dog involved, I mean.

It's, uh, research for a book. Yeah, that's it.

Sorry, can't do that without a dog. Or maybe a second cat, depending on where the PB is.

This is a cat belonging to your friend's cousin's sister, I take it. Yeah, right.

It's right on the middle of her back (what, did she find a puddle of it to roll in? I have no idea how it got there).

If it were, say, cream cheese, the other cat would be on the scene (heck, she'd be turning herself into a pretzel to get to it herself).

I do NOT want my dog to think cats taste like peanut butter.

Would it work to wash it out? That might be hard if your cat doesn't like to get a bath. You could always call the vet. They'd probably have the best plan of action for you.

Like most things in life, it just kind of wore off after awhile.

I've never been so glad she's a short-haired cat.

Thanks, Rob! If that doesn't work I'll try a mixture of latex caulk and melted marshmallows.

For future reference (because we all know these things happen when you've got critters around) corn starch. It dries up the oils in the nuts and makes it brittle enough to flake off. After the initial bulk has flaked away a warm, wet wash cloth should do the trick-- no cat-dunking needed (thank goodness for your arms).

I had this challenge once when grooming a cat back in Maryland. Glad to hear you got it sorted out. :)
