Another ARC winner and another chance to win

My box runneth over with Wicked Game ARCs, and the next one is going to Greg 'The Undead Rat' Fisher from MySpace for last week's drawing.

Congrats, Greg! I assure you he was chosen via a random number generator and not because he loves The Pogues (one of Shane's favorite bands, as mentioned in Wicked Game) and agreed with me about the Bowie/Crosby version of "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth."

Now...

This week's comment contest will focus on New Year's. I accomplished five of of my 17 goals for 2007. Some of them were pie-in-the-sky--or more accurately, pie-in-outer-space. I'm considering making "creating realistic goals" one of my goals for 2008.

Tell me about the 2007 resolutions you achieved. How'd you do it? And most important, how do you reward yourself when you achieve your goals?

My Puritan soul makes me terrible at the last part. I tell myself that the accomplishment (and the temporary subsidence of guilt) is a reward in itself, and sadly, I believe myself when I say it.

Deadline will be noon EST next Thursday, January 3. I'll include the people who commented on yesterday's post about how I should reward myself for hitting 300K words for the year.

Words remaining: 15,975
Words per day to make goal: 3,993

I had several goals this year. Mostly involving learning something new or actually finishing all the craft projects I had started and never finished (my yarn stash has hit the triple digits). I went back to college to start my second and third degree and I rewarded myself with the tattoo I have been wanting for 8 years now (a big lotus with an om symbol in the middle on the base of my back). I finished a particularly difficult bit of knit lace (a skull and cross bones lace... freaking cool) and rewarded my self with more yarn. The other goals were mainly self rewarding. Spending more time with loved ones, reading more and different books, going to dance classes.

I had nine writing goals for 2007.

Two turned out to be moot (for example, I got an agent, so there was no need for goal 3, "If rejected, I will query at least 20 more agents").

I accomplished one goal 100%.

I made partial progress on three goals.

Three goals fell by the wayside.

I normally reach all or almost all of my writing goals. But this year was topsy turvy. My husband got a new job so I spent most of several months on activities related to selling our house, buying a new house, and moving cross country. Then I spent a lot of time sick from overworking myself.

I set ambitious writing goals for 2008 to make up for 2007 and think I'll be able to achieve them if I pace myself better so I stop getting sick.

Thanks for running the contest!

I didn't really set any goals for 2007 even though I probably should. I think them in my heard and try to achieve them but I don't write them down or tell anyone. I guess I think if I tell someone then I will feel like an idiot if I don't accomplish it.

Hey Jeri!!!!
So...I had a bunch of goals and a number of them I did. Some not. I, for the first time, made a vision board with the goals and I attempted to try and imagine getting the goals. And, you won't believe what happened. I said that I wanted to get on the NBC show "ER." Even though my second audition was the best, (and a killer part) on my way home from my third audition I decided to just try and imagine a check coming in the mail. When I got home the casting office had called me with an offer for the part! It was just a little part(literally the waiter with three lines) but a HUGE milestone for me! (And my wife Heather was jumping for joy!) I also wanted to get three other Union acting jobs and I did! One was on Cape Cod! I got to visit my parents!
But I didn't really do anything ceremonial to celebrate.
Oh Yeah. There was this one other thing. On my vision board there was a baby...
This site is totally, TOTALLY awesome by the way!
