Bad to the Bone (Book Two WVMP Radio series) — now available!
Turn On. Tune In. Drop Dead.
If you’re just joining us, welcome to radio station WVMP, “The Lifeblood of Rock ’n’ Roll.” Con-artist-turned-station-owner Ciara Griffin manages an on-air staff of off-the-wall DJs—including her new boyfriend Shane McAllister—who really sink their teeth into the music of their ‘Life Time” (the era in which they became vampires). It’s Ciara’s job to keep the undead rocking, the ratings rolling, and the fan base alive—without missing a beat.
For Halloween, WVMP is throwing a bash sure to raise the dead. They’ve got cool tunes, hot costumes, killer cocktails—what could go wrong? Well, for starters, a religious firebrand ranting against the evils of the occult preempts the station’s midnight broadcast. Then, when Ciara tracks down the illegal transmission, the broadcast tower is guarded by what appears to be…a canine vampire? And behind it all is a group of self-righteous radicals who think vampires suck (and are willing to stake their lives on it).
Now Ciara must protect the station while struggling with her own murky relationship issues, her best friend’s unlikely romance with a fledgling vampire, and the nature of her mysterious anti-holy powers. To make it to New Year’s in one piece, she’ll need to learn a few new tricks.…
Praise for Bad to the Bone:
Smith-Ready pours plenty of fun into her charming, fang-in-cheek urban fantasy. — Publishers Weekly, starred review
Several believable, captivating characters abound, including a sweet-natured vampire dog named Dexter. This terrific sequel to WICKED GAME is by turns funny, sexy, and gripping. — Library Journal
"Rock 'n' roll is here to stay, just like vampires." That's both the motto of radio station WVMP and Smith-Ready's offbeat and hugely entertaining series. Once again readers step into the shoes of reformed con artist Ciara Griffen. The characters have loads of baggage, which complicates their already unusual lives. Luckily for readers, Smith-Ready is also here to stay! — Romantic Times, 4 and 1/2 stars
Once again, Jeri Smith-Ready really knows how to rock and roll, with her clever take on the vampire mythos...The set-up and execution lend themselves well to an entertaining, fast-paced, toothsome tale wrapped around an eclectic playlist of six decades' worth of hot music. — Green Man Review
Carrying on the unique storyline of a vampire radio station, this book is the Paranormal Urban Fantasy equivalent to the best chocolate you have ever tasted...This author has yet to, and most likely can never, disappoint me and continues to astound me. With such a fresh look on things and a different angle on the world of vampires, this series and anything else she writes is not to be missed. — ParaNormalRomance, a PNR Reviewer Top Pick
Bad To The Bone is a solid follow-up to Wicked Game. Its action packed plot, realistic characters, original vampire mythology, sinister secret societies and shadowy government organisations make it a great read for both vampire fiction and urban fantasy fans. — LoveVampires.com
I bonded with Smith-Ready's unusual vampires in the first book of the DJ Vampire series. Bad to the Bone is another winner. — Bookloons
Ms. Smith-Ready breaths life into her undead characters with great detail, and gives them unique personalities that will hook readers on this series. Bad to the Bone is a solid and fast-moving tale, and offers fresh elements in the world of vampires. — Darque Reviews
Bad to the Bone is filled with edge-of-your-seat suspense, hot love scenes and plot twists that you never see coming. Jeri Smith-Ready has scored another hit, and I will gladly stay tuned for more from the staff at WVMP. — Bitten By Books
Ciara’s acerbic voice is still like crack to me — I love the way she describes things, the way she feels things, and the way she’s terrified of said feelings. And I love the way Smith-Ready uses this sequel to further build on the vampy universe she’s created, but also makes time for stuff like Shane’s notes on how to properly use a dishwasher. Did I mention the vampire dog? More, more, more of this series, please! — Alert Nerd
A page turner that is eerily mesmerizing and enchanting. This book does not fall short on any level, but instead picks up beautifully after the first book left off and leaves ample opportunity for the author to work her magic, yet again, with books three and four which are due out starting next year . — Bookish Mom Reviews
Suspense, music, and mythos, as well as a bit of romance make for another great entry in what is rapidly becoming one of my favorite urban fantasy series. — The Plot Thickens (PDF format), newsletter of Mysterious Galaxy bookstore
This story was action packed, with wit and loads of drama. Excellent writing that had me turning the page to see what would happen next. And just when you think the story has come to an end... the author brings you more action and mayhem. This book was both light and dark, but a very enjoyable read. — Anna's Book Blog
